Nodinite Newsletter – November Edition!

Last Updated: November 1, 2024|

We want you for our future webinars!

If you are familiar with Nodinite or follow us on social media then you will no doubt have been aware of our webinar in October covering “5 ways to Supercharge Azure & BizTalk Monitoring” (click on link to see webinar). It was hosted by our very own CEO, Michael Olsson, who was introduced by Jonatan Wirdegård, CEO of Orion Solutions.

We consider this webinar the very tip of the spear with plenty more to come. Starting this autumn, we will be kicking off a regular series of webinars every couple of months. That is why we are giving a heads up that this webinar is just the beginning.

If you are a partner, customer, Microsoft MVP or integration architect that wants to take part in one of our webinars as a co-host or guest host to share your expertise, we want to hear from you! Even if it is just to suggest a trending topic that you think we should cover.

We are particularly interested in sharing insights with our certified partners! We already work closely together and we are happy to highlight and promote your business activities.

What do Azure and Open Telemetry have in common?

Answer to the header question: both were hot topics at the Nordic Integration Summit (NIS) in Stockholm. Here are our reflections from NIS.

Presentation during NIS 2024 in Stockholm

On the 15-16th of October Stockholm hosted the very first Nordic Integration Summit (NIS)! It was a sold-out event for 200+ Microsoft platform integration specialists and professionals.

Nodinite was there, of course, and as Gold Sponsors of NIS! As we are all about monitoring, logging, and documentation of systems and platforms integrations.

NIS also didn’t fail to entertain. The organizers provided a platinum lineup of outstanding speakers! Many of which were Microsoft MVP’s (short for Most Valuable Professional). In the field of platform integrations individuals such as Sandro Pereira and Kent Weare are practically household names.

Usually new events take time to build traction before the masses catch on. This was obviously not the case with NIS as tickets sold out before the event began. Aside from the hosts doing an outstanding job with organization, this surely reflects that Sweden, and the Nordics in general, are at the forefront of systems integration technology.

With NIS over for 2024, hopefully to be resurrected again in 2025, Nodinite wants to share our reflections and learning.

Nodinite Gold Sponsors

We consider NIS to be an exclusive event that is held in our backyard (Sweden). So, becoming one of the events’ top sponsors was an easy decision to make. We attended NIS fully prepared. One of the key takeaways for next year is to ensure that we can fit all our equipment into one vehicle the next time we participate in a similar event (see photo).

Azure Costs

Another of the key takeaways from NIS is the cost of using Azure Integration Services. Whatever is developed in Azure can cost more than anticipated. Azure is so vast and flexible that there are many ways to achieve or build the same functionality. Some ways can be very expensive and others are more cost efficient. If you don’t have a seasoned Azure professional at hand, chances are that its costs can rise quickly.

Regarding monitoring and logging on Azure, we want to emphasize that for anyone choosing to go with Nodinite, that costs are not a worry. Nodinite’s tool uses a predictable pricing model.

Robert Mayer speaking about Open Telemetry on the main stage

Open Telemetry

We were delighted when NIS announced that former Nodiniter Robert Mayer was one of this year’s prestigious lineup of speakers. Robert talked about “Observability with Open Telemetry” on the 2nd day of the event. His presentation focused on integration monitoring using Open Telemetry.

Azure Arc

One of the interesting new developments presented during NIS is Microsoft’s Azure Arc. It is being introduced as an optional on-prem, hybrid and cloud solution. With Arc, Microsoft is providing customers with the option of using Azure according to need. In the past Azure has been a strictly cloud solution but thanks to Arc, its parts can also be used on-prem. This is Microsoft’s solution to customers that have strict requirements about sending sensitive data overseas.

To learn more about Azure Arc, see this excellent video from Contica, who are partners with both Nodinite and Microsoft. Please note that the language in the video is Swedish and that there unfortunately are no subtitles.

Will Stockholm’s NIS become a premier event?

One of the interesting pieces of feedback that we kept hearing during NIS is the similarity to another event that is held in London annually. Many of the same speakers presented at both events and several participants attended London and Stockholm as well.

Two striking differences between the events seems to be I) that NIS in Stockholm is considerable smaller with around 200+ participants, making it more personable and relaxed and II) there are more sponsors/vendors to engage with at NIS. The latter means that at NIS in Stockholm participants had a great opportunity to learn about a wider variety of new products and services offered by sponsors.

With this in mind, we hope that next year’s NIS event continues to be a show that hosts a fun mix of customers, vendors, and consultants!

NIS topic to be discussed in-depth

Thank you, NIS, for a great event! See you all next year!

Meet Orion Solutions – A Consultancy Working with Nodinite

This month we want to direct the spotlight at Jonatan Wirdegård, founder and CEO of Orion Solutions, an exciting new company started in 2024. We are happy to announce that Nodinite is one of the products that Orion Solutions will be working with in the future.

Jonatan Wirdegård, Orion Solutions

If the name Jonatan Wirdegård or Orion Solutions sounds familiar, chances are that this is not a coincidence. Jonatan recently participated as a guest speaker in the webinar “5 ways to Supercharge Azure & BizTalk Monitoring” on the 24th of October. As an experienced integration professional, he was the perfect person to kick off the webinar and introduce the host Michael Olsson, CEO and founder of Nodinite.

Thank you, Jonatan, for your participation in the webinar!

We asked Jonatan five quick questions about his new role and what services Orion Solutions offers.

What does Orion Solutions do?

With the help of Nodinite, Orion Solutions provides observability services within your entire integration ecosystem. We know Nodinite well as Jonatan has worked with the product since 2012. We provide the sharpest 24/7 operations for integration maintenance to customers. Meaning that we provide advisory, including governance, for your ecosystem throughout the whole lifecycle.

Why is lifecycle management important in systems integration?

To address important matters all the way from planning and collecting requirements, design, implementation to operations and maintenance, one needs to consider lifecycle management.

To achieve a data driven approach you must optimize the usage of data and use innovative solutions that provide more self-service insights to organizations instead of just technical interchanges.

We often focus on technical building blocks when designing and implementing integrations. Organizations seldom have a lifecycle strategy when it comes to following up on that investment or how to make sure that the result of the investment is maximized. Building an integration and keeping cost and time plan for implementation doesn’t necessarily mean it was a successful investment.

Why is Orion Solutions so well positioned to help organizations?

With over 15 years of experience in the field of integrations and over 30 different customer success stories from lifecycle management. We have knowledge of most industry verticals and message flows. We know how to always get the most out of customers’ investment. We also have years of experience with Nodinite, building not only proactive but also predictive solutions.

What is the cost of stuck messages in systems integrations?

Depends on how you count the cost. Cost in money, time or customer experience? This is why it is important to build a reliable, scalable, secure and cost-effective integration ecosystem. All four pillars have tradeoffs. It is very important to understand the ”WHY”. Why does an integration exist? This will help us to determine what to focus on when the service is unavailable. But cost is often more data quality related than actual integration errors.

What is an important message? Would you count medical referrals from primary care to specialist? Or this year’s largest order?

It’s always hard to say. A person’s life is, in my opinion, of course more important than money. But comparing healthcare and private sectors with their primary goal to make money might end up wrong in comparison. You need to look at different verticals, or at least different processes, independently. I would say you have to look at the severity and urgency of the data transfer.

It is important to always have a continuous dialogue with decision makers along the lifecycle. This is to understand the priority of each message. Failed messages for a corporation might not rate as high as those for a hospital at face value, yet the lives of thousands of employees can be severely affected by a company’s survival.

Make you have a solution that tells you if a message that is stuck, is very important or less important. So that customers can easily prioritize which issues to deal with first.

If this article has piqued your interest and you want to know more, feel free to reach out to Jonatan directly or await the next big thing within lifecycle management that will be shared by Orion Solutions in one of our coming newsletters.

By invitation: Kazoku’s Recipe for Success

Kazoku IT: Integrations that create success

We know that efficiency and collaboration between system integrations is critical to most businesses. This is why Nodinite has established itself as a trusted integration management partner for us at Kazoku IT. By working closely with customers and understanding their needs, we help companies create agile and sustainable system integration solutions.

Kazoku IT

One of our most valued tools has always been Nodinite. At Kazoku IT we have used their powerful tool to proactively monitor and manage integrations. With Nodinite, we can quickly identify and resolve potential problems before they affect operations. These abilities provide security and stability for our customers in their systems.

Kazoku IT offers a comprehensive solution within integration management. As part of our value proposition, we can deal with everything from release management, problems, and incident management. By combining our expertise with Nodinite’s monitoring platform, we can deliver a solution that not only identifies and reports issues, but also provides the ability to automate solutions and keep all systems running without interruption. This has led to noticeable improvements in customer operations. Our customers experience fewer downtimes and a more predictable operating environment.

Integrations and relationships

To get a better insight into our recipe for success, it is important to highlight that Kazoku’s expertise and our knowledge of Nodinite are not the only reasons why we are so successful. In fact, it is quite the opposite.

While an individual can learn to become a specialist in a subject, it is often more difficult to teach how to maintain good relationships between colleagues or how to engage with others positively. Everything that happens behind closed doors is at least as important as that integrations should flow efficiently with our customers. A friendly atmosphere with helpful employees is something we strive for, that colleagues should enjoy themselves at work and with each other, as team players.

For those who want to know more about our work, we recommend a visit to Kazoku IT’s website, where we tell you more about us and our various services. Please note that the website is in Swedish.

Kazoku IT has also featured in Dagens Industri, a Swedish financial newspaper, about how their recruitment process and how the company values personal traits above experience and competence. Click here to read the DI article.
